Personality
explains
behaviour –

and individual needs

Every dog is unique – even littermates can differ enormously in temperament and behavioural tendencies. Just as siblings from the same family develop distinct personalities, puppies do too.

The fairDogs Personality Test reveals the traits that shape your dog’s behaviour and highlights where they may need support.

This helps you understand your dog more clearly – and live together more harmoniously.

Finally: A scientifically grounded analysis for every dog

For decades, a dog’s character was explained mainly through breed descriptions. But breed profiles describe breeding goals – not an accurate picture of an individual personality.

Many dogs don’t match those ideals, especially when breeding focuses more on appearance than temperament.

Mixed-breed dogs were long considered a “surprise package” – but not anymore.

The fairDogs Personality Test gives every dog an individual character profile, independent of breed, age, or background.

The test captures your dog’s current personality and evaluates all dogs using the same standard. Every dog receives an objective profile describing how they think, feel, and respond.

No trait is “good” or “bad” – it’s all about understanding and working with who your dog is.

When these traits are recognised and nurtured, trust, harmony, and a strong bond can grow.

And yes – personality develops over time, influenced by experience, health, and environment.

The six main traits of the fairDogs personality test for dogs, whereof two traits differentiate between behavior to dogs or people

Individual &
scientifically informed

Each dog is assessed using a unified framework derived from the Big Five personality model, adapted into eight dog-specific personality dimensions.

This allows for an objective, individual, and comparable analysis that reveals how your dog thinks, feels, and behaves.

Help Dogs Find a Suitable Home Faster

The fairDogs Personality Test helps shelters and rescue organisations make a dog’s true character visible – making it easier and quicker to find the right home.

With just 17 questions in 3 minutes, you receive a meaningful personality profile that simplifies adoption decisions and saves valuable time.

Every dog is assessed using the same objective criteria – regardless of breed, age, or background. This allows shelters to compare personalities consistently and evaluate potential adopters more accurately. Once the matching feature is activated, organisations will also be able to include the personality profiles of adopters to see even more clearly whether a dog and human truly fit together. This project is the heartfelt mission of Claudia Daniela Lang, who has invested years of research, development, and personal funding to ensure that even dogs without “perfect” photos have a fair chance. Many wonderful dogs remain overlooked in shelters simply because their true character is hidden. Without an objective description, people are often uncertain – understandably – whether a dog is truly right for them. People should learn to choose not only based on appearance, but based on character. The Personality Test supports not only shelters but, in the future, also dog trainers who will be able to create individually tailored training plans using the combined profiles of both dog and human.
