Health & Preventive Care
for your companion
– personally recommended

As a dog trainer, animal welfare advocate, and lifelong dog lover, I know:
Especially puppies from abroad or rescue dogs often need extra attention when it comes to health and preventive care.
To make sure your dog doesn't endure unnecessary stress, I’ve collected products here that I use myself or have trusted for many years – all with few or no side effects.
The worm test alone has saved my dogs around 50 unnecessary deworming treatments over the years.
Herbs and functional snacks have also helped my dogs a lot – I could tell endless stories about that. :-)
Why preventive care matters so much
If a dog has itching, licks paws or ears excessively, loses fur, or repeatedly suffers from diarrhoea or vomiting — there is often more behind it than just “a phase.” You must get to the root of the issue.
Typical causes and symptoms:
Food intolerances or allergies
→ itching, diarrhoea, fur loss, vomiting, bad breath, or red eyes
Parasites or worm infestations
→ even worm treatments themselves may cause diarrhoea, vomiting, or other reactions
Ticks & external parasites
→ can transmit difficult-to-treat and painful illnesses
→ symptoms: fever, loss of appetite, lethargy, lameness
Because I know how often we “just try something” without knowing the real cause, I focus on recommendations that follow this principle:
Test instead of guess.
Act with intention, not trial and error.
This saves your dog – and you – a lot of stress, suffering, and money.

Worm & Parasite Tests
Did you know that deworming treatments only remove active parasites – but do not protect against new infections?
If you deworm regularly without knowing whether your dog actually has worms, you might harm the immune system more than helping it.
With a Vetevo worm test, you’ll know exactly whether your dog needs treatment – and avoid unnecessary medication.
I’ve done this for years, and without these tests, I would have given my dogs over 100 unnecessary deworming treatments.
A test costs roughly the same as a deworming tablet – but spares your dog the medication entirely.
👉 My tip: Only deworm when needed – and choose the right treatment.
DNA Tests for Dogs
A DNA test not only tells you your dog’s breed mix but also reveals genetic risk factors. I especially recommend testing early for purebred puppies and rescue dogs. Today, many dogs suffer from inherited illnesses because breeding is excessive – even at high prices. If you know which hereditary conditions are likely, you can take preventive steps before pain or disease develop.
💚 This saves long-term veterinary costs and prevents unpleasant surprises.
Allergy & Intolerance Tests
Many dogs suffer from allergies – often without a clear diagnosis.
Typical symptoms include:
itchy paws, face or ears, red skin, digestive issues.
Medications are often given or countless food options tried without ever identifying the cause.
A comprehensive Vetevo allergy test checks over 360 potential intolerances – from food ingredients to environmental factors.
💚 This helps you avoid exactly what harms your dog – and symptoms often improve within a short time.
Urine & Gut Tests – simple preventive care from home
If you want clarity or hope to save on veterinary costs, you can send urine and stool samples directly to the lab.
These tests help identify causes of issues like grass-eating, diarrhoea, skin problems, or bad breath.
A urine test can show signs of diabetes, bladder infections, kidney or liver issues – and whether a vet visit is necessary.
Early indicators include:
-
Blood in urine → kidney or urinary tract disease
-
Elevated leukocytes → inflammation or infection
-
Glucose & ketones → possible diabetes
-
Protein → kidney stress or weakness
👉 These tests are affordable and give valuable insights before a problem becomes serious.
Smart Snacks that Truly Help
Sometimes the little things make a big difference.
My favourites:
-
Belly Bites – support digestion
-
Smiley Bites – for strong teeth and fresh breath
-
Relax Bites – help stressed dogs calm down
They contain functional ingredients, are veterinarian-approved,
and fit perfectly into daily care routines.
💚 My dogs love them as treats.

Tick Protection
Tick protection requires trust. The key is that your dog truly remains tick-free once the product is applied.
Some treatments work better in certain regions than others – you must test what suits your dog best.
For my dog Thor, I use a non-insecticide product from Vetevo during winter, because there are fewer ticks anyway.
In summer, I rely on a stronger product from Bayer (not discounted), which has proven reliable for years.
I’m still testing whether Vetevo’s product is strong enough in summer – and I appreciate your feedback.
💚 My goal: No dog should suffer from the painful consequences of tick-borne diseases.

My conclusion
